Leprosy is an infectious disease also know as Hansen's Disease. Symptoms include:
Skin lesions (sores/bumps) lighter than the skin color. These lesions do not heal after weeks or months and are usually less sensitive to touch, pain, heat.
Numbness in hands, legs, feet and arms.
Muscle weakness.

Leprosy Causes:

Despite all the fear and prejudice in history over the disease, leprosy is caused by a bacteria that isn't easy to get. It is easier for children to contract the disease, but only around 100 cases are reported per year in the US.

Leprosy Treatment:

Because of the many treatments available, separation of the patients from the general population is unnecessary. The doctor will prescribe an antibiotic to kill the bacteria and aspirin or prednisone to control inflammation.

Leprosy Self Help:

Avoid contact with untreated carriers of the disease. Once treated, those suffering leprosy are not contagious. Since the disease is so rare and antibiotics are commonly available, there is no need for much self-help. Maybe a good vitamin/mineral supplement and large doses of Organic Germanium could help.
